 president, has been appointed to the Advocacy Committee of the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network (KCAAEN KCAAEN Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network ).

The committee maintains the KCAAEN Advocacy Communications Matrix. Each committee member is responsible for communicating with specific state Alliances in order to disseminate and gather information related to advocacy issues. The work is driven by the need for information sharing and action based upon anticipated and/or unanticipated changes in policy related to education and particularly arts education.

Reist is associate professor emerita, School of Music, University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is chair of the selection committee for MTNA's Studio Fellowship Award. She currently serves as secretary of the Nebraska Alliance for Arts Education and chair of the Nebraska Coalition for Music Education.

A district director for Mu Phi Epsilon Mu Phi Epsilon (ΜΦΕ) is a co-ed international professional music fraternity and honor society. It boasts over 75,000 members in 128 collegiate chapters and 74 alumni chapters in the US and abroad. , a professional music fraternity, Reist also is a docent at the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery The Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden houses both the Nebraska Art Association collection founded in 1888, and the University of Nebraska collection, initiated in 1929. Together they comprise more than 12,000 works of art in all media.  in Lincoln.
