The authors of Reinventing Education: Entrepreneurship in America's Public Schools share a mix of business and institutional change expertise in a way that captures the importance and urgency of school reform.

RJR Nabisco was purchased in 1988 by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. in the second largest leveraged buyout in history, adjusted for inflation.  Foundation's Next Century Schools initiative. While their rationale for reform can be debated, the strategies presented in this book are valuable tools for educational leaders.

Reinventing Education shares the wisdom of our colleagues on the forefront of the school transformation process. The framework for success describes the need to simultaneously set high standards for students, develop curriculum frameworks and choices in instructional strategies that use technology, create community support systems, develop leadership capacity to make professional choices, and conduct public engagement initiatives.

Reinventing Education presents case studies of schools where all components for reform have worked. This effort shares profiles of leaders and programs. It also honestly identifies change efforts that have not achieved the goals expected and acknowledges that these "failures" are an important part of our learning.
