Reinsurer leases in US Trust Building

A reinsurance company has signed a major lease at 114 West 47th Street, the U.S. Trust Building.

Employers Reinsurance Corporation has committed to 13,846 square feet in the building. The lease is for 10 years. Employers Reinsurance is relocating from One World Trade Center.

Stephen R. Downes, senior director, and Joseph J. Sarno of Cushman & Wakefield represented Employers Reinsurance in negotiations. Tara Stacom and Thomas Bow of Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord, The Durst Organization.

"Cushman & Wakefield conducted an extensive search of midtown Manhattan buildings, and found the U.S. Trust Building to be the most viable alternative," Downes said.

Mark L Riccairdelli, vice president, New York Branch, of Employers Reinsurance. The space will serve as the New York office for Employers Re. The company, a General Electric Financial Services Company subsidiary, is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas.

Cushman & Wakefield recently completed office lease assignments for Employers Reinsurance in Hartford, Connecticut, and Southfield, Michigan.
