Reiner picked for Adventist corporate post.


Scott Reiner, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Glendale Adventist Medical Center Glendale Adventist Medical Center is located in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale, California. It was founded in 1905. Glendale Adventist Medical Center is a sister institution of Loma Linda University Medical Center and is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist hospital system. , has been named senior vice president of corporate owner Adventist Health. He takes over in January for the Roseville. Calif.-based company, replacing the retiring Alan Rice.

"It's exciting," said Reiner. "It allows me to be part of a bigger picture."

Reiner has been at the 448-bed Glendale Adventist since June 1999. when he joined as chief financial officer. He was named president and CEO in March 2001 and is credited with crafting the hospital's financial turnaround in 2000 and growing its internal leadership.

He has also tackled the hospital's master campus plan, which includes the new $100 million patient tower under construction.

In the senior vice president post, Reiner will oversee business development, physician strategies and acquisitions and divestures for Adventist Northern California Northern California, sometimes referred to as NorCal, is the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. The region contains the San Francisco Bay Area, the state capital, Sacramento; as well as the substantial natural beauty of the redwood forests, the northern  operations.

He will also chair the boards of Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital Valley Medical Center and Ukiah Valley Medical Center and the joint Redbud redbud or Judas tree, name for trees and shrubs of the genus Cercis, handsome plants of the family Leguminosae (pulse family), covered along the branches in the early spring with deep rose or (rarely) white flowers resembling pea blossoms.  Community Hospital and St. Helena Hospital St. Helena Hospital and Health Center is a Seventh-day Adventist-run hospital located in the Napa Valley, California, between the town of St. Helena, and the primarily Adventist community of Angwin, which is home to the Adventists' Pacific Union College.  and Center for Health in Northern California.

Reiner said he's up for the new challenge but admits it's hard leaving Glendale.

"I love the work that I do at this hospital," he said. "I have mixed emotions."

A search for his replacement is underway.
