Regular throat clearing can be a sign of trouble. (Lifelines).


If your child constantly clears his or her throat for no apparent reason, it might be time to get your child tested for asthma--even if there are no other signs of the condition.

Researchers in Crete recently studied more than 100 children whose parents said their children were regular throat clearers. Half of the 61 children who had never been diagnosed with asthma asthma (ăz`mə, ăs`–), chronic inflammatory respiratory disease characterized by periodic attacks of wheezing, shortness of breath, and a tight feeling in the chest.
