Registration deadline; touchscreen voting. (Politics).


Today (Oct. 21) is the registration deadline for the Nov. 5 election. As usual, Secretary of State Bill Jones (who is termed out) will be participating in a last-minute registration drop-off at the Hollywood Bowl The Hollywood Bowl is a modern amphitheatre at 2301 North Highland Avenue in Hollywood, California, USA, that is used primarily for music performances. The "bowl" in this context is the natural cavity in the earth into which the amphitheater is built, rather than the shape of the .

Once you've registered, voters can send away for an absentee One who has left, either temporarily or permanently, his or her domicile or usual place of residence or business. A person beyond the geographical borders of a state who has not authorized an agent to represent him or her in legal proceedings that may be commenced against him or her  ballot (the deadline for that is Oct. 29). But this year, there's a fairly novel alternative: starting tomorrow (Oct. 22) and extending through Nov. 1, voters can go to any one of 21 locations throughout L.A.  County Registrar-Recorder Conny McCormack, 22,000 L.A. County voters chose to cast their ballots on touchscreens in 2000.
