Domainwatch.com statistics come from the Network Solutions/Internic domain name database and reveal that register.com has become the largest single source of generic level domain name .com, .net and .org registrations, surpassing the previous leader Tabnet (Nasdaq: VRIO VRIO Virtual Reality Input Output ).

According to domainwatch.com, register.com has over 96,000 generic level domain names registered in the Internic database. This level surpasses the previous leader Tabnet, which has a total of 95,000 domain names registered. Network Solutions (Nasdaq: NSOL) has registered a total of 31,000 domain names to date.

Register.com has rocketed to the top, claiming the lead in only a matter of months, after launching the service in February of this year.
