Regional Roundup.Byline: The Register-Guard BANDON Water rate measure defeated: A ballot measure on whether to allow the city of Bandon to adjust water rates for owners of certain residential and commercial properties that have multiple water users on one meter was defeated 849-307 in Tuesday's special statewide election. That means the city will continue to charge a monthly "multiple-unit base rate" for owners of properties such as apartments and recreation vehicle parks where there are multiple water users but only one meter. The proposed change would have broadened the application of the base rate to include properties with one meter and multiple users who are exempt, such as office buildings, triplexes and recreation vehicle parks outside the city served by city water. City officials said the change would have generated only about $2,000 more per year in additional revenue but the current rate structure is unfair.
