Still time to adopt a barrel: Citizens or groups who want to adopt and maintain one of the flower barrels on downtown streets can still sign up.

In September, the "owner" of the best-maintained barrel will receive a month's worth of free water, up to $50, courtesy of the city.

Senior volunteers sought: Senior citizens are needed to serve on the county's Senior Services Advisory Committee.

The group advises the Senior & Disabled Services Division of the Lane Council of Governments on its annual work plan, budget and other administrative matters. Council members serve as advocates on matters affecting the welfare of seniors and make recommendations on issues related to client services.

All county residents are eligible to apply. The positions are voluntary, but mileage expenses may be reimbursed.

VENETA

Tickets on sale Friday: The spoken word will be on stage this summer as the Oregon Country Fair The Oregon Country Fair (OCF) is a three-day fair that takes place yearly beginning on the Friday of the second weekend in July in Veneta, Oregon, approximately 15 miles west of Eugene, with an attendance of approximately 45,000 over the three day period, with attendance peaking  celebrates the spirit of Oregon's own Merry Prankster, author Ken Kesey Noun 1. Fair tickets go on sale Friday at FASTIXX outlets at selected Safeway stores.

Advance tickets for Friday or Sunday admission are $12 and tickets for Saturday are $15. Tickets bought the day of the event are $14 and $17.

No tickets will be sold at the fair site west of Veneta.
