The regional forum was the first in many years and an unqualified success. More than 100 tax professionals from Region II and surrounding chapters attended. Spearheaded by the New Jersey Chapter of TEI, the Forum commenced each day with plenary sessions of general interest, followed by concurrent sessions on federal, international, and state and local topics. Attendees chose from among various sessions in an open-registration format.

Tony Bernice, Region II Vice President, was pleased with the turnout. "Our region's tax executives are committed to staying abreast of current developments, and New Jersey's Atlantic City proved an ideal setting for that endeavor." Atlantic City is one of New Jersey's premier resort locations.

KPMG and McCarter & English, co-sponsors of the meeting, kicked off day one with an impressive array of speakers, including Mark Daniele, John Brescher, and Joel Horowitz of McCarter & English, and Thomas Konciscs of KPMG (Executive Compensation); Brad Brown, Mike Monteleone, Frank Mattei, and Scott Weisbecker of KPMG, and Kenneth Thompson of McCarter & English (Navigating Sarbanes-Oxley); James Venere, Russell Levitt, Joanne Addas Addas was a young Christian slave boy who lived in Taif, a mountainous area south of Mecca, during the times of Muhammad. Day two's speakers included Sean Foley, Gus Lee, Anthony Sileo and Kurt Wulfekuhler of KPMG, and David Shipley of McCarter & English (Section 482); Christine Kachinsky, Scott Vance, and Lawrence Thomas of KPMG (Section 199); Susan Feeney and Michael Guariglia of McCarter & English, and Timothy Gillis of KPMG (Multi-State Taxes); Steven Lainoff, Marc Skaletsky and Victor Gatti of KPMG (International Update); and Stephen Vajtay and Susan Mello of McCarter & English (Federal Update). In addition to being a presenter, Ms. Feeney is also the incoming New Jersey State Bar President.

Keynote speakers included Maureen Adams, Acting Deputy Director, New Jersey Division of Taxation; Paul DeNard, Director, Financial Services Industry LMSB LMSB Large and Mid-Size Business  Division of the Internal Revenue Service; and Jeff Rasmussen, Tax Counsel, TEI.
