Region 5 highlights: Gillette, Wyoming was site for region 5 conference.[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] Region 5 of ATEA held their fall conference in Gillette, Wyo., October 7-8, 2010. The states included in Region 5 are: North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Montana, and Wyoming. The conference was hosted by Northern Wyoming Community College District and the activities took place at the Technical Education Center on the Gillette College campus. There were numerous hands-on, technical up-date sessions. Conference keynoter David Okerlund engaged the participants with his presentation "Managing the Margins of Greatness." The attendees enjoyed an evening at the Durham Ranch getting up close and personal with the buffalo. Three regional awards were presented at the conference. Terry Marohl, North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, N.D. received the Region 5 Outstanding Technical Teacher Award. The Outstanding Technical Student Award was presented to Michael Freeland, Gillette College, Gillette, Wyo. The Outstanding Technical Program Award winner was Diesel/Truck Driving Program, Metropolitan Community College, Omaha, Neb. [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] |
