Refugio Project, Chile - Mine construction completed mining & ore processing has commenced.VANCOUVER, BC--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 1996--Amax Gold Inc. ("Amax"), Bema Gold Corporation ("Bema") and their 50/50 owned Chilean subsidiary, Cia Minera Maricunga ("CMM (Capability Maturity Model) A process developed by SEI in 1986 to help improve, over time, the application of an organization's supporting software technologies. ") are pleased to announce that construction of the Refugio Mine was completed in December and the mining and processing of ore has commenced. The first gold pour from Refugio is scheduled for the first quarter of 1996 with average annual gold production projected at 233,000 ounces of gold with an initial mine life of 9.4 years. The Refugio Mine is an open pit, heap leach gold mine planned to mine and process ore at a rate of 30,000 tonnes per day.
