Reflective Film has hundreds of micro-layers. (Keeping up with Extrusion).

while admitting visible light. It's composed of hundreds of alternating layers of two clear commodity plastics that have different refractive indices Many materials have a well-characterized refractive index, but these indices depend strongly upon the frequency of light. Therefore, any numeric value for the index is meaningless unless the associated frequency is specified. . Each layer is only a few molecules thick. It's made by a micro-layer coextrusion process with dies built by 3M. The entire film is only one-fourth the thickness of a human hair and is laminated to automotive window glass in order to keep car interiors cooler.

An earlier application of a similar micro-layer film concentrates and intensifies the brightness of laptop computer screens and makes other electronic displays easier to read. It reflects light of one polarization and admits light of other polarizations. Tel: (888) 364-3577, www.mmm.com.
