Reedsport takes Oakland down.


Byline: The Register-Guard

REEDSPORT - Daniel Mast collected 31 points and 20 rebounds, and Jeff Kennedy added 22 points as Reedsport defeated Oakland 68-65 to knock the Oakers out of first place in the Big Fir League boys basketball race Friday.

Tyler Hague chipped in 10 points for the Braves (7-2), who moved into a second-place tie with the Oakers behind Bandon. Danny Derry had 24 points and Greg Eggers added 23 for Oakland (7-2).

Bandon 93, Myrtle Point 55

BANDON - Trenton Fraser had 20 points and Ernest Garrett added 16 as the Tigers moved past Reedsport into first place. Evan Moore and Ricky Pruitt chipped in 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Chris Platano led the Bobcats with 18 points. Bandon held an 80-35 lead after three quarters.

North Douglas 76, Pacific 49

DRAIN - Dustin Andes had 18 points, and Ray Shulmire added 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Warriors. Andrew Hess and Craig Distefano chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Nate Wayne scored 10 points for the Pirates, who trailed 62-30 after three quarters.

Glide 76, Gold Beach 63

GLIDE - Brian Halter scored 38 points and Bo Jackson added 17 to lead the Wildcats. Glide outscored the Panthers 29-19 in the fourth quarter to keep the lead.

Nic McNair had 15 points to lead Gold Beach, followed by Matt Wegner with 14 and Jebb Curtis with 11.

Trico League

Waldport 63, Oakridge 40

WALDPORT - Brandt Thissell scored 20 points and Beau Biron grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the first-place Irish.

Jon Curry had 18 points and Josh Alvarado added 15 for the Warriors.

Jefferson 50, Harrisburg 37

HARRISBURG - Kolby Headley had 16 points and Nick Kamlade added 15 to lead the Lions. Jefferson outscored the Eagles 29-13 in the second half.

Aaron Duncan scored 18 points for Harrisburg.

East Linn Christian 45,

Monroe 41

LEBANON - Ryan Pugh scored 10 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, when the second-place Eagles outscored Monroe 17-9 to get the win. Cody Ziemer added 10 points.

Alex Demaris led the Dragons with 12 points.

Mountain West League

Mohawk 70, Lowell 68

LOWELL - Chad Young's layup with 30 seconds left in overtime gave the Indians the lead, and the Red Devils missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Young finished with 14 points, while Danny Reiter led Mohawk with 23. Billy Mason also scored 23 for Lowell, while Chris Donaldson scored 19 and Kenny Townsend recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds.

McKenzie 52, Mapleton 40

MAPLETON - Drew Wiley scored 18 points and David Sherman contributed 11 to lead the Eagles.

Blake Shappell had 18 points for the Sailors. McKenzie outscored Mapleton 22-10 in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Crow 65, Lifegate 45

Andy Becker and Mark Purvis each scored 14 points, and Cody Hamby and Jesse Meeks chipped in 12 and 10, respectively, for the South Division-leading Cougars.

Colby Hansen had 13 points and Jake Tabor contributed 10 for the Lions.

Triangle Lake 67,

Fairview Christian 30

FAIRVIEW - Wes Ross scored 18 points, and Keith Smith and Brad Disla added 14 and 10, respectively, to lead the North Division-leading Lakers.

Tim Dyer had 11 points and Anthony Geissinger chipped in 10 for the Falcons.
