RedHawk Real-Time Linux Release 4.2 Offers New Functionality and Performance Scalability.

New Features Include 2.6.18.8 Linux Kernel, Quad-Core Multiprocessor Support, Infiniband, High-Availability NFS and More

DULUTH, Ga. -- Concurrent (NASDAQ:CCUR), a leading provider of time-critical Linux[R] operating systems and integrated computer solutions for mission-critical applications, today announced that it will be releasing this month a new version of its popular RedHawk[TM] Linux real-time operating system, RedHawk Linux 4.2.

RedHawk Linux 4.2 supports the latest Intel[R] quad-core processors for more computing power in smaller, more cost effective, energy efficient packages than previously possible. RedHawk takes advantage of the increased discreet CPU cores available on the new quad-core processors to ensure true hard real-time performance and expanded performance scalability. The latest AMD Opteron[TM] quad-core CPUs will also be supported when they become available which will allow 32 CPU cores within one system chassis running a single copy of RedHawk Linux. Version 4.2 provides support for Infiniband, optional global file system and high-availability NFS (HA-NFS) as well as nVidia and other updated 3rd party drivers.

RedHawk Linux v4.2 operating system is built on the 2.6.18.8 Linux kernel and incorporates many of the accepted Ingo Molnar real-time patches, overall performance and stability enhancements and improved user application space features unavailable in older kernels. Compatible with Red Hat[R] Enterprise 4 Update 4, RedHawk Linux version 4.2 includes support for running the 32-bit version of RedHawk on AMD Opteron based systems in addition to the 64-bit version already supported. This capability benefits customers who want the advanced AMD architecture, while requiring their OS to run in native 32-bit mode for specific device driver compatibility.

Hundreds of installations of RedHawk Linux are deployed worldwide including within the U.S. Navy Aegis Open Architecture (AOA) CR2 program, Airbus, Alcatel, Ford Motor Company, Toshiba Tec and many more.
