RedDot Solutions Releases Content Management Server Version 4.5.

RedDot CMS 4.5 introduces new features and increased functionality in the award-winning RedDot CMS Web content management solution. Among these new features are the new plug-in interface for custom scripting of add-on functionality, server clustering See clustering.  capabilities and access to a Media Catalog for digital asset management (DAM).

Additional new features include:
-- Redlining for workflow and version management

-- Improved template administration, including template import/export (to move
to external web design tools), ability to interchange page templates and
template use restriction settings

-- Support for UNC network paths

-- Improved user management

-- Enhanced password checking for NT/LDAP

-- Browser-based log file administration

-- Italian language interface

-- Compatibility with forthcoming RedDot Content Integration Server

Plug-Ins

The new plug-in feature, allows customers to develop uniform Web applications that can be accessed from RedDot's SmartEdit editorial and SmartTree administration interfaces. Easily developed as a combination of the RedDot Query Language A generalized language that allows a user to select records from a database. It uses a command language, menu-driven method or a query by example (QBE) format for expressing the matching condition.  and your preferred programming language, plug-ins allow for development of add-on tools for RedDot CMS.

Server Clustering

With version 4.5, the RedDot CMS now supports the clustering of multiple RedDot Servers for optimization of user requests and processor load. This feature addresses RedDot's rapidly growing number of enterprise-level customers and their need for load balancing The fine tuning of a computer system, network or disk subsystem in order to more evenly distribute the data and/or processing across available resources. For example, in clustering, load balancing might distribute the incoming transactions evenly to all servers, or it might redirect them  and dedicated server processes.

Media Catalog

The Media Catalog, sold as an add-on feature to the RedDot CMS, provides a Digital Asset Management system for administering the implementation of media files in RedDot projects. This add-on option is appropriate for RedDot CMS customers with large amounts of end-user placed images or rich media file types on their Web sites, intranets, or extranets.
