Red hot and dynamic: color renders a bold corporate statement. (FX Special Effects).

Color is sometimes called the "silent salesman." In automobile showrooms, the color of a car, not what's under the hood under the hood - [hot-rodder talk] 1. The underlying implementation of a product (hardware, software, or idea). Implies that the implementation is not intuitively obvious from the appearance, but the speaker is about to enable the listener to grok it. , is usually what elicits an instant response, strikes a chord and often even makes the sale.

Red rules

Which color but red gives the most bang for the buck? What other color commands a viewer to "Stop and Look?"

the corporate office, their goals were to create a cutting-edge interior design that would give prospective clients nonverbal cues to the firm's dynamics. As the new layout took shape, it became apparent that color would be the most critical element in relaying the message.

Red energizes

Office manager Sandy Chun says, "The colors we selected immediately convey that we are a front-running, dynamic firm." Bright colors and sharp contrasts help characterize what the staff describes as "a fun and creative atmosphere."

Red excites

The first thing you see when entering the reception area of the newly remodeled office are two 8-foot columns of flaming red. The columns, as well as the reception desk, are surfaced in Corian solid surfaces, in the engagingly named color "Hot."

columns were the largest scale application of Corian Hot his firm had ever specified.

Mielach Woodwork of Edison, NJ, a company which had many years experience in conventional applications of Conan, and was totally familiar with the product's thermoforming capabilities, was called into the project. Mielach first created a male and female press, and used a thermal forming oven to create the skin or cladding of the columns in two parts. After each half was shaped to the proper contour and cooled, it was sent to the office site.

There, the presses were pulled together around the columns and liquid Conan was applied to the joining seams. Then the cladding was strapped and tightened with band clamps. After two days, the clamps were removed, the joints were sanded and buffed and the Hot Corian-clad columns made their debut. The entire process took about a week, according to plant superintendent Bruce Bartholomew.

"We could not have achieved this seamless appearance with any other material but solid surface," Mack says. And unlike typical drywall columns that have to be patched and completely repainted if they become scratched or nicked, Conan can easily be sanded and rebuffed.

Mielach Woodwork also fabricated and installed the reception desk and presentation room coffee bar in Conan Hot, and kitchen and bathroom vanity countertops in Conan Black Quartz.

Corian solid surfaces are comprised of natural minerals and pigments and high-performance acrylic. Besides snappy colors, Conan offers tactility, thermoformability, translucency and design flexibility. It is a durable, nonporous material that is stain resistant and renewable.
