 brought Borden Chase's novel The Chisholm Trail Chisholm Trail, route over which vast herds of cattle were driven from Texas to the railheads in Kansas after the Civil War. Its name is generally believed to come from Jesse Chisholm, a part-Cherokee trader who, in the spring of 1866, drove his wagon, heavily loaded  to the silver screen, he cast John Wayne in one of the Duke's few antihero roles and offered a dark study of courage stripped of justice or decency. Tom Dunson (Wayne) is the Texas rancher tough enough to lead the first cattle drive north on the Chisholm Trail, but over the long drive this toughness turns to tyranny, and Dunson's undaunted courage descends into cruelty. In time even his adopted son (Montgomery Cliff) and companion (Walter Brennan Walter Brennan (July 25 1894 – September 21 1974) was a three-time Academy Award winning American actor. He is remembered as one of the premier character actors in motion picture history. ) can't stomach Dunson's increasing brutality and lead a mutiny mutiny, concerted disobedient or seditious action by persons in military or naval service, or by sailors on commercial vessels.
