Reconsidering Roe. (Insider Report).


Thirty years ago, Norma McCorvey Norma Leah McCorvey (née Nelson born September 22, 1947 in Simmesport, Louisiana) is best known as "Jane Roe" in the landmark Roe v. Wade lawsuit in which a 1973 U.S. , as "Jane Roe," served as plaintiff in the case Roe v. Wade Roe v. Wade, case decided in 1973 by the U.S. Supreme Court. Along with Doe v. Bolton, this decision legalized abortion in the first trimester of pregnancy. . The Supreme Court's decision in that case mowed down all existing state laws protecting unborn human beings from abortion. On June 17th, McCorvey -- now a prominent pro-life activist -- joined 60 other women at a Dallas press conference to call on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe. All of them had undergone abortions, and each held a sign staring stare

"I want to thank all the wonderful women standing here," stated McCorvey. "I'm so sorry I filed that affidavit affidavit

Written statement made voluntarily, confirmed by the oath or affirmation of the party making it, and signed before an officer empowered to administer such oaths.
 [in the Roe case].... I long for the day that justice will be done and the burden from all these deaths will be lifted from my shoulders." Allen Parker, head of the pro-life legal activist group Texas Justice Foundation, points out that Roe may be the first Supreme Court case in which the lead plaintiff has asked for the ruling to be overturned.

On June 19th, a federal district court dismissed McCorvey's request to reconsider re·con·sid·er  
v. re·con·sid·ered, re·con·sid·er·ing, re·con·sid·ers

1. To consider again, especially with intent to alter or modify a previous decision.

2.
 Roe v. Wade. The court said that the request was not made within a "reasonable time" after the 1973 decision.
