"By offering the Fellowship, Symantec calls attention to the fact that information security issues can not be solved by computer science and technology alone," said Dr. Eugene Spafford, professor computer science and executive director of CERIAS at Purdue University. "We appreciate the faith Symantec has placed in CERIAS to act as a steward of the Fellowship. CERIAS is a world-class organization for research that attracts the finest students from around the world. It is entirely appropriate that we team with the world's foremost information security partner to leverage our talent pool in a way that benefits both public and private entities to the fullest extent possible in terms of generating both research and personnel."

"Symantec and CERIAS have enjoyed a long partnership together to study and examine the complex issues associated with information security," said Wesley Higaki, director of Symantec's University Research Program. "Chief among those issues is the lack of trained security experts. By working with us to address that shortage by hosting the Symantec Fellowship, CERIAS is demonstrating a unique ability by an academic research institution to work with an industry partner to generate solutions to 'real world' problems."

Mr. Tripunitara was one of approximately 82 students who were accepted into the graduate program in Purdue's School of Computer Science, out of more than 650 students who applied.
