The rechargeable battery A rechargeable battery, also known as a storage battery, is a group of two or more secondary cells. These batteries can be restored to full charge by the application of electrical energy.  offers a life span of up to 500 charge/discharge life cycles and can be expected to last between 1 and 2 years with continuous daily use. A fully charged Energex #13 battery will provide up to 20 hours of continuous use before requiring recharging, depending on brand, type, and use of the hearing aid. The charger incorporates a timer with a 6-hour automatic shut-off design, and accepts and charges either one or two batteries simultaneously. Light-emitting diodes indicate state of charge function.

The Aid Mate 13 will save a single-instrument hearing aid user up to $100 a year and a two-instrument user up to $200 a year.
