Reason For Hope is Goodall's autobiography, with an emphasis on her spiritual roots and development. Goodall has remained faithful to her Christian upbringing but it is an expansive viewpoint that embraces wisdom from all traditions. She seeks to answer the questions asked by the millions who have followed her from her early career as a researcher who lived among chimpanzees, which later evolved into a tireless advocacy for the environment and animal rights. How, they ask, does she keep her calm and her faith as one who has chosen to witness the worst of man's devastation and cruelty toward the natural world? In measured prose she answers this question, offering a sweeping view of human history and moral evolution. She shares her personal times of grief and struggle from her youthful days as an assistant to Dr. Louis Leakey, to motherhood, divorce, remarriage Re`mar´riage
