Rear Admiral Muhammad Shafi promoted to Vice Admiral.ISLAMABAD, 19 March , 2009 (Frontier Star) -- Rear Admiral Muhammad Shafi Sir Mian Muhammad Shafi (1869-1932) was an Indian Muslim politician. He belong to well-known Mian family of Baghbanpura, Lahore. He went to England to study for the Bar in August 1889. He also took active interest in Anjuman-i-Islamiya of London and was elected its President for a term. HI(M) has been promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral with immediate effect. This was notified by Ministry of Defence. Vice Admiral Muhammad Shafi received his commission in 1974 and joined the Operations Branch of the Pakistan Navy. He is Principal Warfare Officer by specialization and has attended PWO PWO Philatelic Webmasters OrganizationPWO Post Work Out (after exercise) PWO Public Works Officer (US Navy) PWO Perfect Working Order (classifieds) course and Command course for Type-21 Ships in UK. He did his staff course from USA and obtained his master (MSc) in Defence and Strategic Studies from National Defence University Islamabad. He has held various command and staff appointments. On Operational sea billets he has commanded Pakistan Navy destroyer PN SHAHJAHAN PN Frigate frigate (frĭg`ĭt), originally a long, narrow nautical vessel used on the Mediterranean, propelled by either oars or sail or both. Later, during the 18th and early 19th cent. PNS Peripheral nervous system (PNS) One of the two major divisions of the nervous system. PNS nerves link the central nervous system with sensory organs, muscles, blood vessels, and glands. SHAMSHER and has also Commanded 25th Destroyer Squadron of Pakistan Navy. On staff side, he has served as Squadron Commander at Pakistan Naval Academy, Captain Training to Flag Officer Sea Training and Fleet Operations Officer to Commander Pakistan Fleet. At Naval Headquarters, he was assigned the duties of Director Naval Warfare and Operational Planning, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Plans), Principal Secretary to Chief of the Naval Staff and Director General Intelligence. He was promoted to Flag rank in March 2005. As Flag Officer he has headed the operations and Training & Personnel Branches of PN in the capacity of Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Training & Personnel) at NHQ NHQ National Headquarters NHQ National Housing Quality NHQ Naval Headquarters . In the field, he has commended Logistic Command of PN before taking over his present appointment as Command Coast Pakistan Navy. He is married and has two children; a son and a daughter. He is fond of cricket and is an avid reader.
