Re the "Quebec nineteen".


Could we hope to see in Catholic Insight an in-depth look at what this [letter from the 19 Quebec priests] is all about?

They speak of the Silent Revolution of Quebec. In my way of looking at it, it was a threefold revolution and perhaps even a fourfold fourfold

 revolution:

* a revolution in education, when the field was removed from the control of religious men and women and given to the laity LAITY. Those persons who do not make a part of the clergy. In the United States the division of the people into clergy and laity is not authorized by law, but is, merely conventional. ;

* a revolution in politics when the influence of the Church was broken and cast off;

* a revolution within the Church which came with the confusion following Vatican II Noun 1. Vatican II - the Vatican Council in 1962-1965 that abandoned the universal Latin liturgy and acknowledged ecumenism and made other reforms

In other words, debasement is the degrading of the value of something or character of someone.
 of women and the value of life.
