Re state of Catholic faith in Canada.


During a memorial celebration for Pope John Paul II Pope John Paul II (Latin: Ioannes Paulus PP. II, Italian: Giovanni Paolo II, Polish: Jan Paweł II) born Karol Józef Wojtyła   at Assumption Church here in Windsor, concelebrated by Bishop Daniels, the pastor Fr. John Reddy, C.S.B., the two Vicars of the city and county, and other priests, those in the packed church were welcomed with acknowledgements to those from other Christian and non-Christian religions who may have been attending.

When it was time for communion, we expected one of the priests to mention instruction about receiving Holy Communion. Nothing was said and it appeared that every person in the church went to receive.

Watching most congregations during each Mass in recent years, we know that many have not been to confession in years, yet receive the Holy Sacrament sacrament [Lat.,=something holy], an outward sign of something sacred. In Christianity, a sacrament is commonly defined as having been instituted by Jesus and consisting of a visible sign of invisible grace. ....

When I married in 1970 I was one of those who had the erroneous erroneous adj. 1) in error, wrong. 2) not according to established law, particularly in a legal decision or court ruling.  understanding that it was my decision about contraception contraception: see birth control.

Birth control by prevention of conception or impregnation. The most common method is sterilization. The most effective temporary methods are nearly 99% effective if used consistently and correctly.
. Today, I wonder if any real consideration is even given to Church teaching on this issue or indeed many other teachings. It seems that many Catholics believe that Church teachings are up for individual interpretation. Have we in great part become like the liberal United Church of Canada United Church of Canada, Protestant denomination formed in 1925 by the union of the Methodist, Congregational, and Presbyterian churches in Canada. A large number of Presbyterian congregations, however, remain outside the union. ?
