Re "Edwardian Ordinal" (C.I., Oct. 2006, pp. 28-30).You are much to be congratulated for having published in the October October: see month. issue of Catholic Insight the article on so-called so-called adj. 1. Commonly called: "new buildings ... in so-called modern style" Graham Greene. 2. Anglican An·gli·can adj. 1. Of or characteristic of the Church of England or any of the churches related to it in origin and communion, such as the Protestant Episcopal Church. 2. Of or relating to England or the English. n. ordinations by Father Brendan McCarthy. It is truly a first-rate piece of writing on an involved and little understood subject. Normally one would have expected an article on such a matter to have been composed by one living in England given that the problem explained so lucidly lu·cid adj. 1. Easily understood; intelligible. 2. Mentally sound; sane or rational. 3. Translucent or transparent. See Synonyms at clear. is peculiar to that country. That the author is resident in our own country is a pleasant surprise and bonus. Please convey to the author my congratulations for having written in such a well-informed manner on a matter of which few possess any understanding at all. His work deserves to be treated as a most useful reference on the subject for some time to come. May it serve to protect many from falling into the error of believing that Anglicans have orders that are valid. Toronto, ON |
