Raytheon--First-Ever USFAA corporate chapter.


On 14 July 2003, Raytheon-Fort Wayne, Indiana, (producers of the Advanced FA Tactical Data System, AFATDS AFATDS Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (US Army)

AFATDS Air Force Airborne Tactical Data System (USAF) 
) became the Field Artillery Association's first corporate chapter. The chapter was organized with an initial 26 members.

The Raytheon chapter--called the "Fort Wayne Fort Wayne, city (1990 pop. 173,072), seat of Allen co., NE Ind., where the St. Joseph and St. Marys rivers join to form the Maumee River; inc. 1840. It is the second largest city in the state, a major railroad and shipping point, a wholesale and distribution hub,  Cannoneers Chapter"--got its start in October 2000 with the first annual Saint Barbara's Day Luncheon organized by Colonel (Retired) Stephen M. Lutz, Raytheon's AFATDS Program Manager; Milton J. Kinne, a former FA captain; and Master Sergeant (Retired) James E. Brassell, USMC. More than 40 people attended the first luncheon and witnessed the awarding of three Honorable Order of Saint Barbara Saint Barbara, known as the Great Martyr Barbara in the Orthodox church, was a Christian saint and martyr, who lived in the third century. Her story
The hagiography of Saint Barbara says that she was born about 300 A.D. in Nicomedia, Bithynia in Asia Minor.

The next two years' Saint Barbara's Day celebrations were in December with more than 60 Redlegs/Honorary Cannoneers attending each year, including local area Field Artillery Reservists, Army National Guardsmen and Fort Wayne's Recruiting Company.

These workday luncheons include the reading of the Stories and Legends of the Field Artillery and the I am the Field Artillery poem; mixing of the Ceremonial Artillery Punch (non-alcoholic) and the induction of new members into the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.

A highlight of the 2002 luncheon was the awarding of the Ancient Order of Saint Barbara to Lieutenant Colonel Daniel P. Hughes, AFATDS Product Manager, by Colonel James Boatner, the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC TRADOC Training & Doctrine Command (US Army) ) Systems Manager-FATDS, on behalf of Major General Michael D. Maples Lieutenant General Michael D. Maples, USA currently serves as the 16th Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), appointed on November 4, 2005. He received his third star on November 29. , Commanding General of the Field Artillery Center and Fort Sill Fort Sill, U.S. military reservation, Comanche co., SW Okla., 4 mi (6.4 km) N of Lawton; est. 1869 by Gen. Philip Sheridan. A 95,000-acre (38,445-hectare) field artillery and missile base, it is the home of the U.S. Army Artillery and Missile Center. , Oklahoma.

The Fort Wayne Cannoneers Chapter continues to grow and is branching out to cover all Redlegs, Cannon Cockers, Missileers and Fire Supporters of the northeast Indiana area. To become a member, Indiana Redlegs can contact Jim Kinne at (260) 429-8164.

Chapter officers are President Stephen Lutz; Vice President Milton J. Kinne, Secretary David K. Schade and Treasurer; Dennis J. Sydloski.
