Raytheon wins $240 million Navy contract to operate and maintain Atlantic test facilities.


LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 1997--Raytheon Engineers & Constructors announced today that it has been selected by the Naval Undersea Warfare Center The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) is the United States Navy's full-spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with  (NUWC Noun 1. AUTEC is responsible for research, development, engineering, operation, and testing of the Navy's underwater, air, and surface weapons systems.

Under the contract, Raytheon Service Company, a unit of Raytheon Engineers & Constructors, will provide a variety of services to support base operations, instrumentation systems, and marine and air operations.

Specifically, Raytheon will provide technical support for AUTEC's weapons systems test facilities. This includes in-water and air tracking; real-time test operations control; data collection; target/weapon launch and recovery; communications; system engineering analysis; and acoustic tracking and testing of torpedoes, unmanned underwater vehicles, and sonar systems.

Raytheon will also provide base logistics support for AUTEC. This work includes supply of aircraft; maintenance and repair of public works facilities; and operation of utilities. Raytheon will also provide engineering services; inventory and property control; transportation; minor construction; food services food services Hospital services A 24/7 department in a hospital that provides for the nutritional needs of inpatients–eg, those needing special diets, preparing meals and transporting them to the floor and, through the cafeteria, the hospital staff and ; security and fire protection; education of dependents; and recreational facilities for more than 500 base residents.
