Raytheon honors excellence in technology and engineering.


LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 24, 1996-- Raytheon Company, one of the world's leading high technology companies, honored ten individuals and ten teams with one of the highest distinctions in the $12 billion company, the Thomas L. Phillips Excellence in Technology Award. Named for Raytheon board member and former chairman, Thomas L. Phillips, these awards recognize the technical achievements of Raytheon's individual contributors and project team members among the company's worldwide business groups.

Many of the company's top executives and guests honored the award recipients last night at a special recognition dinner held in Waltham, Massachusetts One of the early centers of the Industrial Revolution in northern America, Waltham is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 59,226 at the 2000 census. .

Picard, chairman and chief executive officer of Raytheon and a registered engineer. "The efforts of thousands of Raytheon engineers and scientists have helped the company grow, evolve and prosper throughout the years. Today, we honor many talented engineers and scientists who have helped us become a successful diversified commercial company, while remaining a leader in defense. Because of their efforts, Raytheon today is building a heritage of leading edge technology, products, and services."

The ten individuals honored for their work on various projects are:

-- Raytheon Aircraft -- Ann L. Kolarik -- structural integrity analysis and Brian D. Morrison -- Control by Light aircraft control system project -- Raytheon Engineers & Constructors -- Paul A. Ireland -- ammonium sulfate ammonium sulfate, chemical compound, (NH4)2SO4, a colorless-to-gray, rhombohedral crystalline substance that occurs in nature as the mineral mascagnite.
