) multiple award contract (N61339-00-D-0015) for contractor operation and maintenance of F/A-18 flight simulators flight simulator, device providing a controlled environment in which a flight trainee can experience conditions approximating those of actual flight. A simulator generally consists of an enclosure housing a working replica of the interior of the cockpit of an  and maintenance trainers. Work will be performed in Lemoore, Calif. (32 percent); Oceana, Va. (25 percent); Miramar, Calif. (21 percent); Beaufort, S.C. (16 percent); Atsugi, Japan (three percent); and Iwakuni, Japan (three percent), and is to be completed in September 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured by a request for proposal issued to all seven of the Fielded Training Systems Support ID and IQ multiple awardees with three offers received.
