and the FAA in their efforts to transition new technology safely and efficiently into the National Airspace System," said Bob Eckel, Raytheon's vice president of Domestic ATC programs. "Our team, representing the entire airspace community, brings dedicated staff, with rigorous, repeatable processes necessary to bring free flight technology into operations."

ATMSDI will continue the development of new concepts, technology and tools for collaborative decision making, airspace modeling and design, flight deck systems, aviation human factors, complex airspace management, airline operations center systems, and air/ground air traffic control automation.

The NASA, FAA and Raytheon ATMSDI efforts will lead to increased runway throughput at capacity-constrained airports, safe operation across boundaries of free-flight and capacity-constrained flight regions, improved effectiveness of high density operations (e.g., Northeast corridor), lower operating costs through better routing, and increased controller productivity.

The Raytheon-led team includes: SAIC SAIC - http://saic.com. , Allied Signal Aerospace, Smiths Industries Aerospace, Booz Allen & Hamilton, Raytheon Aircraft Company, Metron, Seagull Technology, IAI, SCATS and Titan, as well as representation from major universities and airlines.

Raytheon Company, based in Lexington, Mass., is a global technology leader that provides products and services in the areas of commercial and defense electronics, engineering and construction, and business and special mission aircraft.
