Raytheon Awarded $217.8 Million for AMRAAM Production, Product Improvements.LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 1999-- Raytheon Company (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :RTNA RTNA Ring Tone No Answer )(NYSE:RTNB) received more than $217 million under three separate contracts for production of and improvements to the AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM AMRAAM Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile ). The awards were made by the U.S. Air Force Aeronautical Systems Center Air-to-Air Joint Systems Program Office, Eglin Air Force Base Eglin Air Force Base is the home of the United States Air Force 96th Air Base Wing of the Air Force Materiel Command, and is also headquarters for more than 45 associate units. , Fla. AMRAAM is a software-driven, radar-guided missile that gives pilots the ability to "launch and leave" and to engage multiple targets during a single engagement. The award includes a $173.2 million firm-fixed price contract for Lot 13 (13th annual) production of 483 AMRAAMs, which supports missile deliveries, program engineering and logistic services through July 2001 to the U.S. Air Force (180 missiles) and Navy (100 missiles), as well as Foreign Military Sales That portion of United States security assistance authorized by the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, and the Arms Export Control Act of 1976, as amended. All work will be performed at Raytheon facilities in Tucson, Ariz., and Andover, Mass. Final assembly and delivery will occur in Tucson.
