) has been awarded a $112.6 million U.S. Navy contract to provide operation and maintenance services for the Relocatable-Over-The-Horizon-Radar (ROTHR ROTHR Relocatable Over-The-Horizon Radar ) systems located in Virginia, Texas and Puerto Rico Puerto Rico (pwār`tō rē`kō), island (2005 est. pop. 3,917,000), 3,508 sq mi (9,086 sq km), West Indies, c.1,000 mi (1,610 km) SE of Miami, Fla. . Under this five-year award, which includes a base year and four one-year options, Raytheon will also provide engineering and training services in support of these sites.

ROTHR is a high frequency radar system designed and built by Raytheon to provide early warning of strikes against aircraft carrier task forces. Especially suited for long range surveillance of large open water areas, the ROTHR systems have been successfully redeployed for long range detection and monitoring of air traffic in the U.S. government's war against drugs.
