Raytheon Awarded $10 Million Canadian Overhaul Contract.

LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 1999--

Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTNA)(NYSE:RTNB) has been awarded a $10 million contract to provide overhaul, repair and upgrade services for the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) at Raytheon facilities in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Under this 24-month contract, Raytheon Systems Company will provide overhauls and upgrades for eight of the Canadian Navy's 21 Phalanx Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS). Raytheon will also provide a broad range of integrated logistics services designed to prolong the service life of the Phalanx CIWS. CIWS is a rapid-fire, computer-controlled radar and gun system used to defend combatant ships from missile attack. The Phalanx CIWS protects the ships of 21 navies worldwide, including the U.S. Navy.

Raytheon also provides repair and support of the radar and other avionics on the CF-18, the Canadian variant of the F/A-18 Hornet, at its Calgary facilities.
