Dr. Dickie was named a Robert L. Patrick Fellow member of the Adhesion Society, Blacksburg, VA, and is soon to receive the 2004 Distinguished Service Award from the ACS (Asynchronous Communications Server) See network access server. [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] In recognition of exceptional contributions and service to the adhesion science community, the Adhesion Society recognized Dr. Dickie as a Robert L. Patrick Fellow member at their 25th Annual Meeting held February 15-18, 2004 in Wilmington, NC. As a member, Dr. Dickie served the society as program chair, vice-president, and most recently, president. In addition, he chaired the 1994 Gordon Research Conference on the science of adhesion as well as the 21st Annual Meeting of the Adhesion Society. He also serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology and Progress in Organic Coatings. The ACS will honor Dr. Dickie for his outstanding contributions to the long-term welfare of the PMSE division at their 227th National Meeting and Exposition to be held in Anaheim, CA from March 28-April 1. Dr. Dickie has served on the PMSE division's executive committee in various positions ranging from member-at-large to chair. He is currently a councilor coun·cil·or also coun·cil·lor n. After receiving a B.S.Chem from the University of North Dakota and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Dickie was a post-doctoral research fellow at Glasgow University and worked at Stanford Research Institute Stanford Research Institute - Former name of SRI International. (now SRI International). He then joined the Ford Motor Co. Scientific Research Laboratories, from which he retired as corporate technical specialist in 1999. Ray Dickie has authored over 100 publications, has edited four books, and has been awarded 42 U.S. patents. In addition, his research awards include the Joseph J. Mattiello Memorial Lecture of the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology, the Roy W. Tess Award in Coatings from the ACS Division of Polymeric Materials, and the Thomas Midgley Award of the ASC ASC Ambulatory surgery center, see there Detroit Local Section.
