to Easily Leverage WindNet(TM) SNMP for Web-based Management

This new product is specifically tailored to integrate with Wind River Systems' (Nasdaq:WIND) Wind Web Server and WindNet(TM) SNMP. As a specialized version of MIBway(TM) for RapidControl(TM), it brings the full power of MIBway to companies using Wind Web Server.

MIBway for Wind Web Server allows Wind River customers to easily leverage WindNet SNMP for adding Web-based management to SNMP-managed devices. Rather than throwing out the thousands of hours already spent creating, testing and refining SNMP MIBs, the work done for management via SNMP is leveraged and reused. MIBway for Wind Web Server will be available next month.

Previously, the MIBway technology was only available as part of Rapid Logic's RapidControl(TM) product family. Because Rapid Logic's RapidControl products exploit the RapidControl Backplane(TM), with MIBway for RapidControl, interfaces can be modified without writing any code.

Rapid Logic's RapidControl Backplane(TM) (RCB) is an embedded software layer that acts as a bi-directional data dictionary. In MIBway for RapidControl, the RCB links embedded SNMP MIBs to external interface code at run time. The RCB completely separates the embedded code from the interface, ensuring that interface design changes have no impact on underlying code. With the RCB as the embedded management architecture, time-to-market is reduced by a factor of 10 and upgrades and revisions are a turnkey process.

MIBway for RapidControl allows network device vendors to fully leverage all of their SNMP work directly in HTML files, JavaScript programs and Java applets without using any specialized tools, without any compiling or recompiling, and without revising any of their SNMP code. Rather than spending hundreds of hours re-writing GET and SET routines for thousands of MIB variables, developers can reuse code already written for presentation within both Web- and Java-based management solutions.
