NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Feb. 12, 2001

Much sought-after multi-platinum rap star Busta Rhymes Trevor Smith (born on May 20 1972), better known as Busta Rhymes, is an American hip hop musician and actor. Chuck D of Public Enemy gave him the name Busta Rhymes (from former NFL wide receiver George "Buster" Rhymes) after watching him perform. , one of the most recognizable stars of hip-hop has chosen Clive Davis' J Records as his new home.

Busta Rhymes' career includes a history of chart-topping albums, smash singles (such as the multi-platinum "Woo-Hah!! Got You All in Check") and numerous high-profile movie roles. In addition to joining J Records as an artist, Busta Rhymes' also brings Flipmode Entertainment, his own record label that debuted with a gold-selling Flipmode Squad album last year.

Brooklyn-born Busta Rhymes is rap music's most distinctive personality whose unique creativity, complexity and rapid-fire delivery has fashioned a career rampant with success. In 1990, at the age of seventeen, Busta co-founded the Leaders of the New School, a group highly respected in the hip-hop underground for their Afrocentric philosophy and hard-edged style.
