Leica Geosystems Leica Geosystems (formerly known as Wild Heerbrugg or just Wild) based in eastern Switzerland produces products and systems for surveying and geographical measurement (geomatics).  will be supplying just over 500 of its robust and compact PLRF PLRF Program on Long-Range Forecasting Research  Pocket Laser Rangefinders to the US Navy. The result of a custom design by Leica, the new pocket rangefinder is Class 1 eyesafe according to ANSI (American National Standards Institute, New York, www.ansi.org) A membership organization founded in 1918 that coordinates the development of U.S. voluntary national standards in both the private and public sectors. It is the U.S. member body to ISO and IEC.  Z136.1-2000 and its operating measurement performance ranges from 5 metres up to 2500 metres. The tiny PLRF is waterproof to 20 metres, it weighs in at a slight half-kilogram and measures 115 x 96 x 45 mm.
