In mid-August, the US District Court for Maryland granted two summary judgments in favor of IGEN International, ruling that Roche Diagnostics breached a licensing agreement with IGEN by settling a third-party patent infringement suit without IGEN's consent and by failing to cease development of a competing product line. IGEN has won summary judgments on 3 claims with the other 11 claims to be decided by a jury trial in October. Roche stated that the court declined to find it liable on seven of the nine instances claimed by IGEN to be breaches of contract....
