QMT has recently obtained the exclusive world-wide license from Sandia National Laboratories Sandia National Laboratories, which is managed and operated by the Sandia Corporation (a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation), is a major United States Department of Energy research and development national laboratory with two locations, one in Albuquerque, New  for the commercial use and exploitation of patented pulsed power Pulsed power is the term used to describe the science and technology of accumulating energy over a relatively long period of time and releasing it very quickly thus increasing the instantaneous power.  ion beam surface treatment technology known as "IBEST IBEST Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training ". IBEST technology benefits and enhances the durability and utility of a large number of industrial and consumer products at relatively low cost and without creating any impact on the environment.

IBEST is capable of improving the surface qualities of metals, ceramics, polymers and glass. Initial tests on metal and ceramic surfaces treated with IBEST have shown that surfaces become harder, smoother, microscopically crack-free, and less susceptible to corrosion.

QMT expects that tests on polymer surfaces will show that polymer surfaces can be treated to become harder, more receptive to inks and dyes, and less porous, and that glass surfaces treated with IBEST become smoother and crack-free. IBEST has and is currently being applied to materials submitted for testing by several Fortune 100 companies that see the benefits of IBEST.

"Our participation in QMT is consistent with Rainbow's commitment to seek out unique technology that has the potential of becoming the world-wide leader in its industry," said Walter Straub, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.
