Railtrack Disappointed by RMT Ballot Result and Continues to Seek a Settlement.

Railtrack PLC today announced that it has pledged to make every effort to find a settlement and avoid disruption disruption /dis·rup·tion/ (dis-rup´shun) a morphologic defect resulting from the extrinsic breakdown of, or interference with, a developmental process.  to services by RMT RMT right mentotransverse (position of the fetus).

The total one year package offered by Railtrack would increase average pay for signalers by 9% or more which has been independently verified by Deloitte & Touche. The pay offer would also reduce the working week to 36 hours by April 2002 at the latest. Railtrack is also committed to work towards a 35 hour week. As part of this process Railtrack has already embarked on a recruitment program which has resulted in an extra 300 signalers being taken on in the last few months.

"I am disappointed that RMT members have voted to reject the

best offer made by a major company this year. We are determined to

work in partnership with our employees to deliver a better

railway. Our offer recognizes the efforts of our staff and rewards

improved performance.

"The narrow majority of the ballot shows that many of our

staff do not wish to harm their industry by taking industrial

action.

"We will continue to use our best endeavors to resolve the

issue quickly and we have asked ACAS ACAS Cardiology A clinical trial–Asymptomatic Carotid Atherosclerosis Study which evaluated the 5-yr risk of fatal and non-fatal stroke-primary outcome in Pts with asymptomatic but severe carotid atherosclerosis. Railtrack employs some 5,500 signalers and supervisors.

The RMT ballot resulted in 1595 voting in favor of upon the side of; favorable to; for the advantage of.
