RailAmerica Appoints New Chairman; Company Separates Chairmanship from President & CEO.

Pagonis, who previously served as Vice Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Corporate Governance Corporate Governance

The Board also appointed Charles Swinburn, who currently serves on the Compensation and Government Relations Committees, as the new Chairman of the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee to replace Mr. Pagonis, who has also resigned as a member of the Company's Compensation Committee. The Board has appointed John M. Sullivan John M. Sullivan is a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate, representing the 47th District since 2002.

Sullivan was elected in 2002, having defeated long time senator Laura Kent Donahue in one of the closest and most expensive senate races that election cycle.
