Radio station will end Imus rerunsA rebel Southern California radio station broadcasting reruns of "Imus in the Morning" since Imus was fired will end repeats of the show Friday. Attorneys for CBS Radio and San Bernardino radio station KCAA-AM announced an agreement that ends a lawsuit aimed at halting the Imus rebroadcasts. Imus was fired April 12 for on-air comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team. Radio station lawyer Brian Oxman said KCAA planned to end the rebroadcasts on Friday anyway. KCAA, a 1,400-watt station that reaches areas east and south of Los Angeles, wasn't selling advertising for the 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. rerun period and couldn't continue losing revenue, he said. CBS Radio, which controls rights to the Imus show, filed a copyright infringement lawsuit last week against KCAA and its owners, Broadcast Management Services of Katy, Texas. The media company wanted $150,000 for each copyright violation caused by the Imus reruns. Under a deal struck this week, CBS Radio (part of CBS Corp.) won't seek damages, Oxman said. CBS Radio lawyer Michael J. O'Connor told U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips in Riverside on Monday the agreement was reached moments earlier in the courthouse hallway. A settlement agreement will be presented to Phillips during an April 30 hearing.
