Radio Unica 1580 AM Los Angeles Hits The Airwaves On January 1, 1999.

50,000 watt, powerhouse station to deliver full-market coverage

of popular Radio Unica Network programming

Radio Unica 1580 AM (KBLA) in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  hits the airwaves on January 1, 1999. A 50,000-watt, full-market coverage station, Radio Unica 1580 AM will broadcast the Network's complete programming schedule.

He added, "Our programming distribution strategy calls for ownership and management of radio stations in the top U.S. Hispanic markets. Radio Unica 1580 AM is a key part of that strategy. Our programming will now be available to one hundred percent of Hispanic listeners in the greater Los Angeles area."

Radio Unica 1580 AM's launch is supported by a massive advertising campaign that includes television commercials, outdoor billboards, and a painted bus. The campaigns commercial elements star telenovela A telenovela is a limited-run television serial melodrama of the type made famous in Latin America. The word is a portmanteau of tele, short for television, and novela ("novel/soap opera"). Telenovelas are essentially soap operas in miniseries format.  sensation Daniela Castro, who most recently appeared in Univision's highly rated telenovela, Desencuentro.

Radio Unica's star-based programming line-up includes such elements as contemporary-themed talk shows hosted by internationally known personalities such as Pedro Sevcec Pedro Sevcec (born approx. 1950) is a television reporter who works for Telemundo in the United States. He was born in Uruguay and spent much of his life in Argentina.

Sevcec in the United States has had much success as a news reporter.
