TORONTO -- The WMS developer has been presented a certificate of recognition in the category of Canadian Innovation Award for Productivity Improvement (Lean) by the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters

Radio Beacon Inc., a developer of warehouse management software for 3PLs, manufacturers and distributors, today announced that its warehouse management software has been presented a certificate of recognition in the category of Innovation Award for Productivity Improvement (Lean) at the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Annual Conference and Expo. The award recognizes innovative excellence in the development of a new technology, the adoption and application of a new technology in process, or new product development. The annual Canadian Innovation Awards recognize success in Canada and highlight best practices as a means to encourage innovation and improve the competitiveness of Canadian industry.

Radio Beacon worked with Gentec International, Canada's leading consumer accessory product supplier, to determine exactly which warehouse management features would best suit the company's business needs for every aspect of their warehouse. Radio Beacon seeks to improve productivity not just for one warehouse process but for the total warehouse experience from the time a product enters the loading dock to the time it leaves in a shipment. RADIO BEACON WMS integrates back office programs with warehouse floor technology, allowing data to be accessible from every stage of a process, to anywhere in the warehouse, in real time. Many processes which had once required time-consuming manual data entry by Gentec staff are now instantly transmitted from one part of the warehouse to another. This means that the time it used to take staff to enter data from the warehouse floor into the back office system is eliminated, allowing staff to use their time to get more orders put away, picked, and shipped. Data entry errors are also virtually eliminated since most data transferal is done electronically.

With RADIO BEACON WMS, Gentec's order volume has increased by 75% without requiring a corresponding increase in staff. Running two shifts a day, Gentec's seventeen warehouse staff are now able to process on average 2,000 lines per shift. Additionally, Gentec's cost per line has dropped by 42% since the beginning of their 2004 fiscal year with RADIO BEACON WMS, increasing from 305,000 lines in a year to 533,000 lines per next fiscal year.
