 going back to her days with Judson Dance Theater Judson Dance Theater located at the Judson Memorial Church, New York the group of artists that formed Judson Dance Theater are considered the founders of Postmodern dance. The theater grew out of a dance composition class taught by Robert Dunn, a musician who had studied with John  in the 1960s. The exhibit, whose catalogue became a stunning book called Trisha Brown: Dance and Art in Dialogue 1961-2001, illuminates the elegantly radical nature of her work. Accompanying the exhibition are performances of Brown's earlier works by students from neighboring colleges. Taken as a whole, the experience yields clues about why Brown has been so influential to younger choreographers. See www.newmuseum.org.
