Race of Hearts.

Ho-hum, it's Valentine's Day. What are you planning? A party with nothing but corny valentines? Well, here's a way to have fun and stay fit! You and three or more other kids can have a Valentine's Day relay race.

You need:

Red construction paper
Crayon or marker
Scissors
Yarn or string

Directions:

1. Cut out fourteen paper hearts.

2. Write each of the sayings listed below on two hearts. Underline the action word in each saying.

3. Make two identical sets of hearts.

4. Lay a START line on the floor with string or yarn.

5. Put each set of hearts upside down in two piles across the room from START.

Heart sayings:

[love] My heart skips a beat over you.

[love] I'd walk miles for you.

[love] I'd crawl far to be with you.

[love] I jump for joy when I see you.

[love] I hop(e) you'll be my valentine.

[love] Waddle it be? Will you be mine?

[love] I'm head over heels (somersaults) for you.

To play:

1. Players make two teams and line up behind START.

2. Players take turns walking backward to pull a heart from their stack.

3. Players do the action word all the way back to START.

4. The first team to finish all the hearts wins.

Remember:

* In a relay race, a player cannot go until the teammate in front is done.

* The player must do the underlined action word or lose a turn.
