RYKOFF-SEXTON ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS AND REALIGNMENT OF SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM

 LOS ANGELES, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Rykoff-Sexton Inc. (NYSE: RYK) today announced several promotions and a realignment of its senior management team.
 The promotions are Richard J. Martin, formerly vice president and treasurer, who was named to the newly created position of senior vice president and chief financial officer; and Robert J. Harter Jr., who adds the duties of senior vice president, human resources, to his role as general counsel.
 Martin, 47, joined the company in 1988, from the auditing firm of Arthur Andersen & Co. Harter, 49, joined Rykoff-Sexton in 1989, from Tiger International Inc.
 Both executives are members of a newly formed senior executive committee headed by Mark Van Stekelenburg, president and chief executive officer of Rykoff-Sexton Inc. Other members of the senior executive committee are: Harold E. Feather, president of the distribution division, Alan V. Giuliani, president of the manufacturing division, and F. Christopher Cruger, president of Tone Brothers Inc. A search is currently underway for a chief information officer who will complete the committee.
 Rykoff-Sexton Inc. is a leading manufacturer and distributor of food and related products for restaurants, institutions and membership warehouse stores nationwide, as well as the country's largest restaurant equipment, supply, contract and design company. Manufacturing, processing and packaging operations are based in Los Angeles; Indianapolis; Englewood, N.J.; Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Des Moines, Iowa.
