 RYKOFF-SEXTON ANNOUNCES NEW MEMBER OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 LOS ANGELES, Sept. 15, /PRNewswire/ Rykoff-Sexton Inc. (NYSE: RYK) today announced that Mark Van Stekelenburg has been elected to the company's board of directors.
 Van Stekelenburg, 41, is the executive vice president of Rykoff- Sexton, reporting to Roger W. Coleman, president and chief executive officer. Van Stekelenburg succeeded Thomas R. Rykoff as a director. Rykoff, 57, continues as a vice president of the company's Rykoff- Sexton Distribution Division.
 Prior to joining the corporation in March 1991, Van Stekelenburg was president and chief executive officer of G.V.A., the largest foodservice distributor in the Netherlands, and a subsidiary of Royal Ahold, N.V. Van Stekelenburg has more than 18 years of experience in the food industry, also including senior management positions with the MAKRO subsidiary of S.H.V. Holdings, where he represented them in Brazil and where he established the firm's first U.S. operations in Washington, D.C., and with Vendex International.
 Rykoff-Sexton Inc. is a leading manufacturer and distributor of food and related products for restaurants, institutions and membership warehouse stores nationwide, as well as the country's largest restaurant equipment, supply, contract and design company. Manufacturing, processing and packaging operations are based in Los Angeles; Indianapolis; Englewood, N.J.; Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Des Moines, Iowa. The company's 29 distribution centers are located throughout the United States.
