RUST SECURES TWO OF FOUR OMAHA DISTRICT TERC CONTRACTS FROM U.S. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Rust International Inc. (NYSE: RST) has been selected to enter into exclusive negotiations leading to contract awards for both the Upper Midwest and Gulf Coast Total Environmental Restoration Contracts (TERCs) by the Omaha District, Corps of Engineers. This unique contracting approach, which is the first of its kind for U.S. Department of Defense facilities, combines environmental investigation and engineering with site remediation, operation and maintenance, and closure -- all under a single contract. Rust is uniquely organized to offer all of these services in the same organization.
The two Indefinite Delivery-Indefinite Quantity contracts have an estimated value of up to $350 million over a four-year period, followed by two three-year options. The Upper Midwest TERC is valued at approximately $200 million and includes DOD facilities in the region from Wyoming to Michigan and from Kansas to the Canadian border. The second TERC has an estimated value of $150 million and covers the Gulf Coast states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Work under these awards is expected to commence in the fall of 1993.
Employing more than 15,000 professionals world-wide, Birmingham based Rust International is a leading provider of environmental and infrastructure consulting, engineering, construction, environmental restoration and specialty on-site industrial services. The company is a subsidiary of WMX Technologies, Inc. (formerly named Waste Management, Inc.) of Oak Brook, Ill.
